Do I need to participate in Open Enrollment?
If you do nothing during Open Enrollment:
- Your medical, dental, health savings account (HSA), critical illness insurance and supplemental AD&D insurance will roll over to 2025.
- You will not be enrolled in the healthcare or dependent care flexible spending accounts.
- You will not receive the monthly tobacco-free premium reduction in 2025.
- You will miss the opportunity to enroll in or increase your long-term disability insurance without providing proof of good health.
If you participate in Open Enrollment, you can:
- Add, change or terminate medical, dental, HSA, critical illness or supplemental AD&D coverage.
- Add or remove eligible dependents from your health plans.
- Increase your HSA contribution to the 2025 IRS maximum.
- Enroll in (or continue) your healthcare or dependent care FSA in 2025.
- Receive the tobacco-free premium reduction for yourself and/or your spouse in 2025 (you must re-sign the affidavit each year).
Remember, even if you don’t make any changes, it’s a good idea to review your current benefits and beneficiaries each year to ensure they still align with your needs.
How to enroll
- To elect your benefits, log in to the Employee Center and select the Open Enrollment tile.
- Follow the prompts to review each benefit plan and enroll/make changes as desired. Once you’ve reviewed each plan, select the Submit button at the bottom of the screen.
- Once you’ve submitted your elections, you’ll see an on-screen confirmation. Select Done to complete the enrollment process.
- An email confirming that your elections were submitted will be sent to your IU email address within two business days. If you don’t receive this email, it means that your benefits weren’t submitted, and you need to log back in to the Open Enrollment system and re-submit your elections.
