IU Foundation Affinity Giving grant applications open

By IU Foundation

November 08, 2024

The Indiana University Foundation Affinity Giving program empowers passionate IU students, faculty and staff to turn their innovative ideas into reality.

Aligning with the IU 2030 strategic plan goals, Affinity Giving grants foster a more vibrant and inclusive environment on one or more of IU’s campuses. The grants provide financial support for a wide range of initiatives, such as academic enrichment programs, student support services, groundbreaking research and community outreach endeavors.

Applications are open now and will be accepted through Feb. 2. The application process is conducted online through the IU Foundation Affinity Giving Grant Application page.

All IU community members with a compelling vision and ability to manage grant funds are encouraged to apply. Potential applicants are encouraged to explore how past grants have been allocated:

  • In 2022, nearly $500,000 was awarded to 40 projects, including training for elementary school teachers in school corporations near IU Southeast and renovations to the LGBTQ+ Culture Center at IU Bloomington.
  • In 2023, $456,000 went to 31 projects, including IU Northwest’s Forensic Scientists and Criminal Investigators Summer Camp and the IU Fort Wayne Healthcare Career Exploration Academy.
  • In 2024, more than $459,000 supported 26 projects, including the IU South Bend Foster Youth Support Program and the Student National Dental Association Impressions Program at the IU School of Dentistry in Indianapolis.

Affinity Giving works closely with affinity groups, including the Black Philanthropy Circle, Latino Philanthropy Circle, Queer Philanthropy Circle, Women’s Philanthropy Leadership Council and Parent and Family Giving to support initiatives and needs that align with their specific goals.
