As Indiana University continues on the ambitious path outlined in IU 2030: The Indiana University Strategic Plan, additional results from the plan’s initial year have been released.
The strategic plan dashboards, which launched in July, include core metrics in support of the plan’s three pillars: Student Success and Opportunity, Transformational Research and Creative Activity, and Service to Our State and Beyond. Hundreds of faculty and staff were involved in crafting the plans, including the goals and metrics, and the dashboards summarize the results both by pillar and by campus.
“I’m proud of the momentum on our campuses across the state, where we’re taking bold steps to empower our students, solve some of the world’s biggest challenges and contribute to the economic prosperity of Indiana,” IU President Pamela Whitten said. “These early successes are a testament to the hard work of our staff and faculty who are partners in our vision for IU.”
Launched in April 2023, the seven-year IU 2030 strategic plan features long-range, ambitious goals, so initial-year results for some metrics will show no or limited gains.
Still, several metrics show impressive progress, even in the short time since the plan launched. Some of this progress includes:
- A 22.8% increase in new philanthropic support for endowed financial aid to support student access and affordability.
- A nearly $30 million increase in external sponsored research funding.
- An 18.3% increase in the number of P-12 partnerships, including career-pathway partnerships with high schools.
- Gains in retention rates for 21st Century Scholars students across all campuses.
As initiatives in support of the plan pillars gain momentum, the dashboards will be updated with new data. The next round of updates, including data from the plan’s second year, will be available in June 2025.
