IU-wide diversity, equity, inclusion committee appointed

Indiana University President Pamela Whitten has appointed an ad hoc committee representing all IU campuses to recommend outcomes for the university to pursue related to diversity, equity and inclusion.

The committee will engage with stakeholders across the university, including student groups, faculty leaders and staff across various units such as the Office of the Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. It will provide a final report to Whitten by April 1, 2025.

The committee is co-chaired by representatives from IU’s Bloomington, Indianapolis and regional campuses: Bill Ramos, associate professor in public health and the 2025-26 president-elect of the Bloomington Faculty Council; Karen Bravo, dean of the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law in Indianapolis; and Ken Iwama, vice president for regional campuses and online education.

Additional committee members include:

  • Jonathyne Briggs, professor of history at IU Northwest.
  • Danielle Buehrer, associate vice president for enterprise effectiveness and accreditation.
  • Hannah Buxbaum, vice president for international affairs and the John E. Schiller Chair in Legal Ethics at the Maurer School of Law.
  • Jay Gladden, IU Indianapolis provost and executive vice chancellor.
  • Nathay Duque, IU East student.
  • Demetrius Logwood, human resources director at the IU School of Medicine.
  • Anne Mitchell, senior director for human resources at IU Indianapolis.
  • Frank Motley, former assistant dean of admissions at the Maurer School of Law.
  • Cate Reck, clinical professor of chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences at IU Bloomington.
  • Joyce Rogers, executive vice president for development at IU Foundation.
  • Kosali Simon, Distinguished Professor, Herman B Wells Endowed Professor and Paul O’Neill Chair at the Paul H. O’Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs.
  • Marietta Simpson, Distinguished Professor and Rudy Professor of Music at the Jacobs School of Music; faculty fellow in the Office of the President.
  • Angela Smith Jones, associate vice president for state relations.
  • Emily Walvoord, associate dean for student affairs at IU School of Medicine.
