As 2024 comes to a close, the benefits team in IU Human Resources shares some tips and reminders to help employees make the most of their IU benefits.
Prioritize your mental health. The holidays can mean something different for everyone. They can be a time of joy and celebration for some, and a source of stress or grief for others. Employees are encouraged to visit IU’s Workplace Mental Health website for tips, resources and access to professional support.
Watch for new Anthem ID cards. Employees enrolled on an Anthem medical plan should watch for their new medical plan ID cards. The only changes are the cost share amounts listed on the front of the card, and the customer service phone number for specialty prescriptions on the back of the card. Anthem will mail cards through USPS unless you’re signed up to receive digital cards only.
Make an appointment for your annual preventive care. Make 2025 a year of well-being by staying on top of your preventive health care. These essential check-ups, including physicals, labs, cancer screenings, well-child visits and immunizations, are covered at 100% by IU medical plans and are available through your primary care doctor or through the Marathon Health employee health centers. See what’s recommended for your age by reviewing the list of covered services.
Review your prescription drug coverage and cost. The list of drugs covered under IU plans, known as the formulary, can change periodically during the year. Even if your medications have stayed the same, you should regularly check the most up-to-date formulary to verify that they’re still covered. You can also review the cost of your prescriptions by logging in to your CVS Caremark account.
Speaking of prescriptions, if you are prescribed a specialty medication, you should have received a letter and phone call from IU’s new specialty pharmacy manager, Archimedes. If you have not connected with them to set up your account, they can be reached at 888-330-8248 or iuconcierge@archimedesrx.com.
Use your flexible spending account funds before you lose them. If you were enrolled in the healthcare FSA or the dependent care FSA in 2024, you have until Dec. 31, 2024, to incur eligible medical expenses, and until March 15, 2025, to incur eligible dependent care expenses.
Claim your health screening incentive. If you’re enrolled in IU’s voluntary critical illness insurance plan, you and your covered family members are each eligible for a $100 tax-free cash incentive in each year that you get a covered health screening test or exam. Learn more about the incentive and how to submit a claim.
Consent to receive your 1095-C electronically. IU Human Resources will issue 1095-C tax forms for tax year 2024 no later than March 3, 2025. If you haven’t already, consent to receive yours sooner by signing up for electronic delivery.
Sign up for webinars and wellness events. The IU Human Resources events calendar includes upcoming events from IU benefits vendors such as Fidelity and Care.com, as well as Healthy IU and IU Human Resources. Regular additions to the calendar ensure there is always something new to sign up for.
