In a business meeting March 1 at the IU Southeast campus, the Indiana University Board of Trustees approved several personnel appointments, including:

• John Ciorciari, who will serve as dean of the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies at IU Bloomington, effective March 1.
• Suresh Viswanathan, who will serve as dean of the IU School of Optometry, effective June 3.
• Latha Ramchand, who began serving as executive vice president and inaugural chancellor of IU Indianapolis on Feb. 12.
• Nir Menachemi, who began serving as interim dean of the IU Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne on Jan. 1. He is serving following the Feb. 1 retirement of Founding Dean Emeritus Paul Halverson.
