1095-C statements for the 2023 tax season are now available to view and download in the Employee Center.
What is a 1095-C?
Form 1095-C is a document that Indiana University issues each year, as mandated by the Affordable Care Act. It provides details about the health insurance offered by the university.
Who will receive a 1095-C from IU?
You will receive a 1095-C from IU if, in 2023, you were:
- Classified by ACA regulations as a full-time employee (worked an average of 30 service hours per week) for at least one month; or
- Enrolled in an IU-sponsored medical plan as a:
- Full-time, benefits eligible faculty or staff member.
- Student academic appointee.
- IU medical or optometry resident.
- COBRA participant.
- IU retiree under age 65.
What does this mean for you?
The 1095-C is not needed to file your federal tax return and does not need to be sent to the IRS. It’s simply a reference document that you should keep with your tax records.
