Over the past 10 years, I have had the incredible opportunity to help Indiana University researchers turn their big ideas into competitive, fundable proposals from corporate and foundation partners. Working across disciplines, I have seen firsthand the breadth of talent and ambition that exists here at IU.
We launched Research Development Services to provide a streamlined, full-spectrum support system for proposal development — whether you’re brainstorming a brand-new idea or finalizing a submission for a major funder. As a central resource, our team offers expertise in aligning your research with funding priorities, forming collaborative teams, strengthening proposal narratives and navigating administrative complexities.
Research Development Services strongly supports the IU 2030 strategic plan to significantly increase funding from foundations, industry and government, each by 50% by 2030.
Our mission at Research Development Services is to reduce barriers and increase access to resources, collaborators and new opportunities. We know that developing a strong proposal isn’t just about writing; it’s about planning, timing and strategy. That’s why we created the RDS Quick Guide and the RDS Request Form — so you can get the right support, right when you need it.
The research funding landscape is changing. Foundations are evolving their priorities, and competition across the board is intensifying. Our team is here to help you adapt, whether that means exploring non-federal funding opportunities, identifying interdisciplinary partnerships or tailoring your research narrative to better resonate with reviewers.
Working with IU’s talented researchers has been one of the highlights of my career. I look so forward to continuing to serve you, ensuring your ideas get the attention and support they deserve.
