The 2025 Indiana General Assembly legislative session concluded April 25.
Throughout the session, Indiana University engaged with state lawmakers to shape meaningful conversations about the university’s commitments to making higher education accessible to Hoosiers and driving the state’s economy through life-changing research and innovation.
Several provisions in the fiscal year 2025-27 budget bill will impact the university and its work. The Office of the Vice President for University Relations has compiled a summary of relevant legislation.
The university will be working over the coming weeks to understand the full impact of state legislation and ensure compliance with new laws. As part of these efforts, IU leadership will engage directly with campus leaders, in addition to academic and faculty governance leaders. President Pamela Whitten met Thursday with University Faculty Council leadership.
IU will continue to focus on its key priorities of championing student success, shaping research and innovation that improve the lives of Hoosiers, and strengthening communities across the state.
