In partnership with Healthy IU, End Lung Cancer Now — an initiative of the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center — is bringing lung screenings and education directly to IU employees and community members across the state.
Whether you’re eligible for screening or simply want to learn more, the mobile unit brings early detection, education and peace of mind.
Why it matters:
- Lung cancer mortality is declining faster than any other cancer largely thanks to early detection.
- Early-stage lung cancer is highly curable, but it often has no symptoms.
- Lung screening can detect cancer in its earliest, most treatable stage, providing a better chance at a full recovery.
According to Medicare guidelines, you may qualify for a low-dose CT lung cancer screening if you:
- Are 50 to 77 years old.
- Currently smoke or have quit within the past 15 years.
- Have a 20 pack-year history. For example, one pack a day for 20 years or two packs a day for 10 years.
- Have no current symptoms of lung cancer.
The mobile lung screening unit will visit IU campuses:
- Aug. 26 at IU Indianapolis.
- Sept. 9 at IU Bloomington.
- Sept. 16 at IU South Bend.
- Sept. 24 at IU Fort Wayne.
- Sept. 30 at IU Kokomo.
- Oct. 7 at IU East.
- Oct. 8 at IU Columbus.
- Oct. 29 at IU Southeast.
- April 2026 at IU Northwest. A specific date is still being determined.
Site-specific details will be available soon. You can register online to schedule an appointment with the mobile unit.
