Town hall meetings have been scheduled in the search for an IU Indianapolis executive vice chancellor and provost.
The nationwide search for this role launched in May. The search committee is being co-chaired by Phaedra Corso, associate vice president and vice chancellor for research, and Tamela Eitle, dean of the IU School of Liberal Arts on the Indianapolis campus.
Following the search launch, the committee held a selection meeting to determine several candidates to invite for interviews. Candidates participated in first-round Zoom interviews and met with the committee in mid-August. Those interviews determined the final candidates, and three finalists will visit the Indianapolis campus in September.
During their campus visits, each of the candidates will meet with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and participate in a town-hall-style open forum where students, faculty and staff can meet the candidates and ask questions. These town halls will be held in person and virtually via Zoom. A recording will not be available.
Town halls are tentatively scheduled for Sept. 4, 5 and 19. To safeguard candidate privacy, staff, faculty and students will receive an email releasing each candidate’s identity and CV one business day before each town hall event.
Details about the town halls are available on the university’s Executive Search website, which requires an IU login.
The executive vice chancellor and provost will be the chief academic officer of IU Indianapolis and regional education centers in Fort Wayne and Columbus. The person in this role will facilitate the highest-quality faculty and foster a culture of educational excellence by providing direction in matters related to academic programs, quality and policies; promotion and tenure; faculty and student recruitment and retention; student success; and campus outreach.
Reporting to the IU Indianapolis chancellor, the position will also promote a campus environment of expansive inclusivity, rigorous intellectual inquiry, and compassionate engagement with the city of Indianapolis, state of Indiana and beyond.
