A student project is planned to better understand the challenges and barriers undocumented Indiana students face.
IUPUI student organization Alliance for Immigrant Justice, along with IUPUI anthropology professor Wendy Vogt and nonprofit organization Indiana Undocumented Youth Alliance, are working on a project titled “Undocuhoosiers: Racial Justice for Undocumented Students.”
The overall goal of the project is to document and understand the lived experiences of undocumented students in Indiana, including DACA students and Temporary Protected Status recipients, to better support students and social justice initiatives. The organization is especially interested in learning more about the unique challenges and educational barriers facing undocumented students in Indiana and the ways students are creating new spaces and forms of solidarity and activism.
Alliance for Immigrant Justice is hoping to get more responses and would love to share this information with any organization or student who may be interested in filling out the survey or doing an interview. The alliance is also interviewing staff and faculty who work with undocumented students.
