The Indiana University Innovation and Commercialization Office is launching a Faculty Innovation Ambassadors Program to help IU researchers identify and cultivate opportunities to translate their research to market.
IU faculty scientists are at the leading edge of new discoveries, addressing issues such as human health, the environment, new therapeutic interventions, and software solutions. However, not everyone is familiar with how to translate the research and the new economic opportunities and innovation pipelines it can lead to.
The Faculty Innovation Ambassadors Program will help IU innovators:
- Recognize whether research might be useful as an invention.
- Learn what it takes to move cutting-edge research from the lab to marketplace.
- Understand how IU protects faculty scientists’ inventions.
- Discover how IU licenses inventions.
- Learn how to launch a startup.
The faculty ambassadors will create a community of practice to promote innovation and commercialization of faculty research and serve as a direct and trusted resource to their faculty colleagues who are seeking related support.
Through a series of intensive workshops, the Innovation and Commercialization Office will guide and train these faculty scientists by providing an understanding of how basic science and technology are assessed and developed into commercial products and innovations.
Interested faculty should have approval from their chair before applying. To apply or learn more about this program, visit the Faculty Innovation Ambassadors page or email ico@iu.edu.
