Based on recent reviews by the Office of the Vice President for International Affairs’ internal faculty funding programs, including a 2019 university-wide faculty survey, the office has modified its competitive grant categories for overseas activities.
The office’s goal is not only to achieve better alignment between funding opportunities and faculty needs, but also to ensure that its use of resources advances IU’s strategic priorities in global engagement.
Faculty across all IU campuses are encouraged to explore existing grant programs as well as two new initiatives:
The International Mobility Grant supports international travel for individual research or creative pursuits, including conference participation, archival research and other short-term activities.
The International Collaboration Grant offers funding for faculty to visit a current or prospective partner university to strengthen or explore collaboration in teaching, research or creative activity. There are two tiers of funding: smaller exploratory grants and larger grants to support teams of faculty on collaborative work with colleagues at established partners.
