To protect the Indiana University community and help employees successfully navigate the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, IU continues to offer employees COVID-19-related leaves for specific reasons, including required self-isolation, vaccine side effects (excluding boosters) and child care needs due to COVID-19.
Leave for COVID-19-related illness
The Keep IU Healthy Leave has been extended through Dec. 31, 2021. This paid leave gives all employees time off for any scheduled work missed for a qualifying COVID-19-related reason, such as:
- Exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms and seeking a medical diagnosis.
- Required to self-isolation due to a positive COVID-19 diagnosis.
- An adverse reaction to a COVID-19 vaccine (excluding boosters).
Leave for COVID-19-related child care disruptions
The IU COVID-19 School and Child Care Leave is also available through Dec. 31, 2021. This unpaid leave gives staff and temporary employees up to 10 days of leave to care for a child whose school or place of care is closed or temporarily online only. Academic employees should consult their academic chair or academic affairs for guidance.
See the COVID-19-Related Leaves FAQ or the Guide to COVID-19-Related Leaves at the IU Human Resources COVID-19 website for details about eligibility, qualifying reasons and more.
