Curriculum enhancement grant open for faculty

The IUPUI Center for Teaching and Learning’s 2022 Curriculum Enhancement Grant request for proposals is now open. Proposals are due by Jan. 31, 2022. The aim of the grant is provide support as well as time and funds to implement teaching interventions designed to improve student learning outcomes, experiences and success.

Open to faculty from IUPUI, IUPUC and IU Fort Wayne, this grant is offered to: 

  • Increase the practice of the scholarship of teaching and learning.  
  • Enhance the campus conversation about scholarly teaching, which includes reflective, inclusive and equitable evidence-based teaching practices.
  • Increase faculty competitiveness for external educational or curricular improvement grants. 

Typical projects include but are not restricted to those that would:  

  • Enhance the effectiveness of courses through adopting pedagogies of engagement. 
  • Redesign courses to provide more equitable and inclusive student learning experiences.
  • Use technology, including virtual and augmented reality, to enhance the effectiveness of a course.
  • Develop innovative curricular materials or approaches.
  • Develop a new course or sequence of courses.

High-impact practice focus projects 

In addition to offering the usual Curriculum Enhancement Grant awards, in 2022, the Center for Teaching and Learning has partnered with the Institute for Engaged Learning to support projects that focus on the integration of a high-impact practice into the curriculum. Specifically, the institute seeks proposals focused on course-based undergraduate research experiences and e-portfolios.

Support for preparing a successful proposal 

IUPUI will offer a three-part webinar series focusing on applying for a Curriculum Enhancement Grant. Attendees will engage with presenters to discuss the proposal requirements, review examples from past successful proposals and examine the components of a strong proposal.
