Board of Trustees meeting recap

The IU Board of Trustees met Aug. 11 and 12 in Bloomington. Read more about what happened at the meeting at the links below: 

  • Trustees approved an agreement with Purdue University that will transform IUPUI. 
  • The board approved three new degrees. IUPUI will offer a Master of Science in regenerative medicine and an online Bachelor of Science in applied statistics, while IU Bloomington will offer a new Bachelor of Science in economics and quantitative methods, pending approval from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education.
  • Trustees approved IU’s legislative capital request for renovations, which includes four priority projects for 2023-25.
  • Vivian Winston, who was elected to the Board of Trustees by IU alumni in June, was sworn in as a trustee. Winston replaces longtime Trustee MaryEllen K. Bishop. Quinn Buckner and Cindy Lucchese were also both sworn in again as trustees following their reappointment by Gov. Eric Holcomb. They will serve three-year terms that will conclude on June 30, 2025.
  • Harry Gonso will serve as vice chair of the Board of Trustees, after being selected by his colleagues. He will serve as an officer, along with Chair Quinn Buckner, through June 30, 2023.
  • Trustees approved several personnel appointments, including Chancellor of IU Kokomo Mark Canada. His appointment is effective Aug. 15.
